An hour later, Alexis was sashaying across the floor wearing a dress that showed off her curves and her glowing bronzed skin.

“Work it girl,” Blossom catcalled. “I want those shoes when you’re done.”

Alexis laughed. “You are so not getting these.” She stopped in front of the mirror and stared at herself. She looked terrific, hell she looked better than terrific she looked gorgeous. Her eyes sparkled and her skin glowed. The bright red dress was simple in front, but the back draped low in the back and the excess pooled over her plump ass. The dress cost more than what she made in a month. After realizing that a bra cost more than two hundred dollars, Alexis threw her unrealistic budget out of the window. “I cannot get used to this,” she muttered.

“Stop staring at yourself, you look gorgeous. Let’s go, I’m ready to eat,” Blossom said.

“Not just yet,” Ingrid said. “I have something else for you.”

Alexis gulped. “There’s more?” she squeaked.

“Yes, give me one minute to get it.”

Alexis turned to Blossom as soon as Ingrid raced away. “I wonder what it is?” she said excitedly.

“Maybe it’s a diamond ring,” Blossom suggested and Alexis rolled her eyes.

“Why would he give me a diamond ring?”

“Because he’s under your spell.”

“I don’t think he’s in it that deep.” She was prevented from saying anything else when Ingrid bustled over to them.

“Here we go!”

Alexis eyed two jewelry boxes in her hand and her heart began racing. Ingrid held two boxes, one medium size square box and one small box that looked small enough to hold a diamond ring. Her gaze shot to Blossom, but she was too intent on picking a chocolate covered strawberry from a tray to notice her distress. “I wonder what it is,” Alexis said.

“I think you’ll be happy.” Ingrid opened the square box first. She held it out for Alexis’s inspection, and Alexis gasped. There were two diamond encrusted bangles.

“I can’t wear these, they’re too expensive,” she protested.

“What is it?” Blossom said, she finally pulled her attention away from the strawberries and walked over to Alexis and Ingrid. “You’d better wear them or I’ll take them.”

“I can’t, I might lose one,” Alexis protested.

“Don’t worry, they’re insured,” Ingrid reassured her. “So if you lose one or both they’ll be replaced.”

“Put them on!” Blossom ordered and with a look of wonder on her face and shaking hands, Alexis slipped the two bangles over her wrist.

“They’re breathtaking,” she whispered.

“Yeah.”

“And if you like those you’re going to love these.”

“Oh?” Alexis had forgotten about the small box.

Ingrid flipped it open and held it out to her. A pair of diamond earrings winked at her and Alexis heaved a sigh of relief, it wasn’t a ring. “Let me put these on,” she offered.

Alexis stood still while Ingrid put the earrings in.

Blossom admired her friend. “You look like a million bucks,” she said.

“Just sixty thousand,” Ingrid revealed, her tone nonchalant.

“I’m wearing sixty thousand dollars’ worth of jewelry,” Alexis shrieked.

“Shut up!” Blossom hissed. “We don’t need half of Manhattan knowing that.
